Twitter Expands its New Lists Feature

Twitter expanded the testing of new ‘Lists’ feature to 5% of the Twitter users. It plans to roll out the feature to all Twitter users in the coming weeks. I am one of the lucky ones to get this feature.

It was first announced by Twitter about 3 weeks ago and today it expanded this feature to more people.

Lists is a way to organize your followers or followings in smaller groups. You can either create a private list, which is only accessible by you, or can make your list public for others to follow as well. You can also follow lists made public by other users.

Nick Kallen, the project lead on Twitter Lists, said in a blog earlier, “The idea is to allow people to curate lists of Twitter accounts. For example, you could create a list of the funniest Twitter accounts of all time, athletes, local businesses, friends, or any compilation that makes sense.”

The stats under the user name (on the right side) shows that how many times an account has been listed. That means, the lists are linked to users’ profiles. Users visiting your profile would be able to see lists you follow and the lists which follow you.

Twitter expanded it to a small group of users, so if you happen to visit any List’s page you’ll probably see the error as  below.

People had been using different services and softwares to organize their gigantic followers and followings list. I believe it will not only help people organize their lists and help find new interesting accounts but also will help in finding targeted or focused users based on interests or niche.

Insert drawings in Google Docs

Google launched a new feature in Google Docs. Now you can add drawings to your Google Spreadsheets from within the Google Docs interface.

In order to access the drawing tool, open any document, document, spreadsheet or presentation, in Google Docs and click “Insert” and select “Drawing”. A new popup will open and you’ll be able to draw or add you custom drawing to you Google Docs.

The Official Google Apps blog points out some important features of Google Docs drawing tool:

  • Custom shapes and lines: Use the new ‘Polyline’ tool to create custom shapes, close shapes, fill them and reposition points.
  • Snap to Guides: Helps you align shapes with the canvas and other shapes when dragging and resizing.
  • Draw multiple lines: Start drawing a new line immediately after finishing a line, without having to re-select the line type.

I personally like this new feature as it allows most commonly used functions popular in desktop or online drawing tool.

Adobe Photoshop as a free iPhone app

Adobe launched a free iPhone app for its one of the most popular digital image editing software named Adobe Photoshop. With this powerful tool, now iPhone users can add stunning effects to their digital images, captured through their mobile camera without even connecting or turning on any PC or laptop.

This free iPhone app allows users to view full screen photos and edit it right there. Users can adjust color, enhance exposure and vibrancy and can convert images to black and white. Users can also add eye-catching special effects and can apply changes like Warm, Vintage, Vignette and Pop with just one click. Users can even undo and redo the actions within the app.

After editing photos, users can upload them directly to their Photoshop.com account. The new iPhone app allows users to access their entire Photoshop.com gallery which allows 2GB of free space and is enough for 1,500 photos.

“Now, with access to powerful editing and sharing tools, iPhone users are armed with the resources to document all of life’s unexpected moments, make them look their best and then re-live those memories with friends and family” said Doug Mack, the vice president and general manager of Consumer and Hosted Solutions at Adobe in a press release.

iPhone users, just point your browser to mobile.photoshop.com/iphone for more details on the free photoshop application or access this free iPhone app from Apple’s App Store on their iPhone and iPod Touch.

Wordtracker Introduces Free Keyword Research Plugin For Firefox

Wordtracker recently introduced a free keyword research tool, SEO Blogger, as its latest Wortracker Labs project. It is a mini version of Wordtracker’s online keyword research tool right in your browser window.

If you know search engine optimization, you know the importance of researching keywords for optimization. And this Firefox add-on, SEO Blogger, has made that research a lot easier than before.

As explained in the blog post, when installed, it opens up in a sidebar within your Firefox browser so you don’t have to open another window for research. It let’s you find keywords and phrases relevant to your query. You add ’seed’ keywords and it will come up with a list of most relevant keywords and phrases which you can use for optimization.

Save those keywords you’re interested in by hitting the little “Add” links next to the phrases. This stores them in the bottom box under ‘your chosen keywords’ list so that you remember all of your saved keywords.

When you’ll use those keywords in your article, SEO Blogger will make a count of how many times you used a certain keyword.

You can sort your chosen keywords by alphabets, by the number of searches or by the number of times you used it in your blog.

Benefits of using Wordtracker’s SEO Blogger:

Saves time: It saves your time. No need to go off to do separate keyword research

All Blogging Platforms: It works with all blog publishing platforms.

Stay focused: It let’s you to stay focused and concentrate your research only on the post and the relevant keywords you’re writing.

Comparative analysis: It lets you compare keywords instantly to find out which ones pack the most SEO punch.

Keyword count: It automatically counts that how many times you’ve used each chosen keyword in your post.

This keyword tool uses the Wordtracker database and is similar to Wordtracker’s online FREE keyword suggestion tool. I used it and foud it a great tool for bloggers. I also encountered an error and had to fill a Captcha code; may be due to over usage.

You can download it here: SEO Blogger
